Learn to Row

We love to race. Competitions range from local regattas to state and national championships to long distance 'head' races. Some members even travel to international events. Local regattas are very friendly and a great place to have some fun regardless of your level of rowing experience. There is both open (any age) and masters (over 27 years) racing. Learn more...

We also love to get out on the river with friends and enjoy the natural surroundings. There's an active social rowing scene at the Club. Some social rowers enter the occaisional regatta, but many find all the satisfaction they need on our home stretch of river, enjoying the passing birdlife, turtles, fish and wallabies. We regularly run fun activities for all Club members including Big Boat Breakfasts and Glowing Rowing. Learn more...

Five of the seven rowing schools in Townsville are members of our Club:

  • The Cathedral School
  • St Margaret Mary's College
  • Igantius Park College
  • St Patrick's College
  • Pimlico State High School

They participate in Townsville-All-Schools-Association cordinated regattas and some students also go on to compete at state and national schools and open championships. They may also get the opportunity to row at north Queensland Club regattas. Students wear their own school zooties for school regattas and when they row for the Club at non-school regattas they compete in our official navy, gold and white zootie. Learn more...
