Learn to Row

No rowing experience? Don't worry, we'll teach you. Learning to row as an adult is extremely common.

Rowed in the past but the memories are dim? We can help you refresh knowledge and regain confidence.

ChristineWhen able, we offer 'buddying' with experienced club members as a learning pathway. However, lots of our members have come to the sport through our adult Learn to Row courses.

We post information on upcoming Learn to Row courses on our events list and Club Facebook Page (see events). Bookings are taken online. Learn to Row (LTR) courses are offered throughout the year, the usual format is 7.30 - 9.00am Saturday and Sunday, this runs for approximately 4 to 5 weeks. The next course starts 13 May 2017.

No special gear is required for the first session of the Learn to Row course which will be on land and focus on safety, boat handling and some basic technique.  Sessions after that will be on the water and you should bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen and appropriate clothing. It is a requirement that all rowers be capable of swimming at least 100 meters fully clothed.
