North Queensland Masters Camp
Forty-one rowers (and 3 coxswains) gathered on the weekend of 21 and 22 March for the 2009 North Queensland Masters Camp. This group included participants from Cairns, Townsville & JCU, Riverway and Mackay rowing clubs. Coaches included Kathy Phillips (Brisbane & GPS), Ken Maughan and Ron Beattie Grafton Rowing Cub), Stefan Muhlenberg (The Cathedral School) and Alex Field (Townsville Grammar School).
The Camp comprised four 2-hour rowing sessions over Saturday and Sunday, on the TJCU Rowing Club's Aplin's Weir rowing facility. Participants were coached (and videoed) in all classes of boats, from 8+'s to single sculls, with most people having a variety of boat and/or coach combinations over the 4 sessions.
Many thanks to all our coaches for thei time and expertise, and to all participants for their willingness to listen and learn, and to mix and match according to the vagaries of the organiser!
